About Me

I am a federally registered Jicarilla Apache/Keweenaw Bay Ojibwe artist, and I am based in Albuquerque, NM. I work to diversify the views of the Southwest and to help share our idea of enchantment with the rest of the world. Living with an indigenous consciousness can be a real challenge sometimes. Our world’s history shows that all the good and bad that has given our life today has inevitably at some points decimated the stories and cultures of my own and many others. I refuse to hold hostile vengeance in the light of these circumstances and instead pursue my own traditional styles and use modern influences in my work. Being Native is also the reason I was able to pursue higher learning in college and to force myself into different perspectives about the world, and I would not have found the inspiration and resources to be an artist otherwise. I seek higher grounds of communication and being human to others.

My work is a love of handmade goods, indie rock, screenprinting, and anything else that inspires a movement and an economy that pursues new ideas and beautiful images. My biggest influence was studying with Melanie Yazzie at CU Boulder, and I have been a professional Native American artist here in ‘burque for the last five years. Music is another vital influence in my life, and I find my creations reflect each other in the sound and visual mediums. I hope you take time to observe the care I put into my original works and that it fits a gift to your loved ones or yourselves. Ihedn, Miigweech, thanks to you, from my heart to yours.
